The Ottawa REDBLACKS led their Saturday game against the Montreal Alouettes until the final moments, Saturday, but their East Division rivals pulled through in the dying seconds, to steal 25-24 victory.
Quarterback Dustin Crum threw for 130 yards, and Tyrrell rushed for pair of touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a late Montreal score. Lewis Ward knocked through a 39-yard field goal, with Damon Webb, and Sherrod Baltimore notching interceptions, to go with a Cleyon Laing forced fumble and recovery.
The REDBLACKS struck first, when a Crum to Shaq Evans completion set up the first Pigrome touchdown, to put the REDBLACKS up 7-0. After Montreal got on the board with a David Cote field goal, Pigrome ran home his second of the night from 16 yards out, and four points from Ward had Ottawa up 17-3 at the half.
Caleb Evans completing a seven-yard pass to Tyler Snead saw Montreal draw within 10, but Crum soon scampered into the endzone from the 13-yard line, giving Ottawa a 24-10 lead late in the game.With time winding down, Cote was good from 50 yards, before Snead caught another touchdown, and an Evans two-yard touchdown run gave Montreal a late 25-24 win.
The REDBLACKS will look to snap their current skid, Sunday night, visiting the Edmonton Elks at 7:00pm ET.
