SUIVRE ROUGE ET NOIR D'OTTAWA

The Ottawa REDBLACKS continue to have a golden opportunity in front of them: win and they’re in. This time, they’ll head to the hostile confines of New Mosaic Stadium, where they’ll meet the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
It’s a matchup between veteran quarterbacks who have a lengthy history of going toe-to-toe in big games, with Jeremiah Masoli leading the REDBLACKS, and Trevor Harris the Roughriders. You can catch all of the action on CTV at 3 p.m. ET.
Ottawa is coming off consecutive losses for the first time this season, having dropped a pair of meetings with East Division foes. Still, they go into this afternoon’s matchup with an 8-5-1 record, the second-best in the CFL. Though injury-plagued, they’ll get a few names back for this one, including Kalil Pimpleton and Zack Pelehos.
These teams previously met this season, resulting in a wacky tie. Dustin Crum played the majority of the game for the REDBLACKS, while Shae Patterson played for the Riders.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The Riders took down the Calgary Stampeders in their last outing, but it has been tough sledding in Saskatchewan since their 4-0 start to the season. Sitting at 6-7-1, they are in a fight for their playoff lives, but still have the opportunity to win the West Division if things bounce their way.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
Bob Dyce, Head Coach, on limiting penalties: “I think you’ve got to break the penalties down into a number of areas. There are preventables, and we have to really make sure we eliminate those. The offsides, the procedures, things like that. And then there’s the URs (understanding the rules) and roughing, ones that you should never have. You’re putting yourself in front of the team and taking something that you shouldn’t. We had a clip in there, mixed in with those.”
Garry Johnson, Linebacker, on the previous meeting: “I feel like it was one of those games that puts a chip on your shoulder, because it was a home game for us and, at that point, we hadn’t lost a home game.”
