Le ROUGE et NOIR ne parviennent pas à remonter la pente et perdent leur saison contre les Argos

In their final game of the 2023 CFL season, the Ottawa REDBLACKS made it close in the end, but came just shy of the comeback upset, falling 27-22 on home field.

Down 24-9 late in the game, Dustin Crum hit Justin Hardy for a 30-yard touchdown pass, making it a 24-16 game following the PAT. After a Toronto field goal, Keaton Bruggeling’s first CFL touchdown from 16 yards out made it close again, but the road side recovered the onside kick, to secure the win.

Hardy’s touchdown reception put him over 1,000 yards on the season, for the first time in his CFL career. Running back Devonte Williams found 51 yards on the ground, eclipsing the 1,000-yard milestone of his own, and Crum’s 261 passing yards on the night sees him end the season over 3,000, in just 14 games.

On the defensive side, Alonzo Addae starred with a pair of interceptions, and Alijah McGhee jumped on his first career forced fumble. Linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox got to the quarterback for a pair of sacks.

An Argos pick six by Marcus Pierce opened the scoring just over 10 minutes in, and quarterback Cameron Dukes connected with Dejon Brissett for a touchdown late in the quarter.

A pair of Michael Domagala field goals drew the REDBLACKS within a score of 14-6 at the half, but a Deonte McMahon rushing major, followed by a Boris Bede field goal made it 24-9 in the early goings of Quarter 3.

The REDBLACKS comeback kicked off from there, but the regular season East Division champions held on for the victory.
